Knowledgeable about agency requirements and assures the program complies. Be knowledgeable of The Salvation Army Employment Policies as stated in The Salvation Army Central Territorial Handbook, and make every effort to have all teaching staff including the director be in compliance. Provide each Community Center employee with an After School Program Staff Handbook, The Salvation Army Territorial Handbook, and Northern Division Addendum. Plan, oversee, supervise, and provide leadership to youth programs on a daily basis. Provide for the orientation of families, staff, and volunteers, as well as provide on-going training of all employees and volunteers. Any staff disciplinary problems must be brought to the attention of the Corps Officer.
Conduct Regular Employee Reviews. Interview, evaluate and recommend the hiring and termination of employees as needed. Maintain all personnel files: applications, interview results, state background checks, state personal information forms, performance evaluations, emergency contact information Responsible for observation of health, spiritual growth, and academic development of children.

Director must develop procedures on handling illnesses, accident prevention, and emergency procedures. Keep current health records of all children in files, and inform parents about community resources. Responsible to see that the facility is always neat, clean, organized and free of any hazards. This represents a positive image to present enrollees, potential enrollees, benefactors and the public. Recommend to Corps Officer any maintenance and improvements of physical building grounds necessary for meeting health and safety child care requirements. Develop, evaluate and update curriculum keeping with the program objectives. Develop and maintain communication links and relationships with parents.
